Video Jam of the Ideavirus: Seth Goldin’s “Unleashing the Ideavirus”

Seth Goldin wrote an excellent book on “Unleashing the Ideavirus”, where he explains why and how you can get interested people to market to each other rather than interrupting them. Because it’s a lot cheaper to get like minded people to share (your) ideas with each other.

This post, however, is not a duplication of Seth’s “Unleashing the Ideavirus”. So if you have not read the book, then watch the video jam of “Unleashing the Ideavirus”, download a copy of Seth’s book and then share this Video Jam of the Ideavirus with your visitors.

Can you amplify your ideavirus with a Video Jam of the Ideavirus?

Can you increase the smoothness of and ideavirus with a Video Jam of the Ideavirus?

I know you can, but will you agree with me? Only time will tell.

Seth Goldin wrote the book “Unleashing the Ideavirus” as a manifesto. And he explains where the ideavirus lives, the death of an ideavirus, how to launch an ideavirus and how you can spread it if you release it into the right hive.

Seth explains the Ideavirus vocabulary.

And the vocabulary is critical because the ideavirus may seem simple, but, it’s a complex process and we need to agree on the terms before we can discuss the way forward. (Sounds like a very practical marriage.)

Seth will tell you that you need to make it trivially easy for sneezers to sneeze your idea. This is where video jamming a book (an idea) like “Unleashing the Ideavirus” give sneezers more sneezing tools.

Let’s consider my colleagues at www.mbfimozambique.com for example. They are a busy lot. Because we need to replace 16 million cubic meters of wood used annually for charcoal with modern renewable energy. I thought that this will be enough motivation for them to read “Unleashing the Ideavirus” but they did not, then I converted the manifesto into a MP3 and dropped on the Ipod. But “Unleashing the Ideavirus” is 4 hours long.

My concern with Seth’s “Unleashing the Ideavirus” is that the free book is important to all people with a little savvy, but you go and tell all people with savvy that.

I realised that “Unleashing the Ideavirus” and other books (and ideas) are not as smooth as they should be.

The next idea to get my colleagues to read the book:

Let me get it down to ten minutes using PowerPoint, a little story structure, a brand new artist for the graphics from eLance.com, a program called Photo to Movie for the motion, and there you have it.

A jammed video version of “Unleashing the Ideavirus”, 10 minutes long and a taste of what you can get from the full version of Seth Goldin’s “Unleashing the Ideavirus”.

Is video jamming of books a method to amplify the ideavirus?

You bet.

You can, today, create videos of your idea viruses and release it at YouTube.com and Google Video. This allow people to share (amplify) your ideavirus.

Is video jamming of books a way to improve smoothness?

You bet.

I could send my colleagues “Unleashing the Ideavirus”, I could send them to the down load link. I could dump “Unleashing the Ideavirus” on their Ipods, but I could only get them to read the book after they saw the video.

This is not breaking news, but it instead of releasing the softcover of your book before the hardcover you may want to release the video jam of the book.

You can follow these steps to share the Video Jam of the Ideavirus:

1) Get the code for the Video Jam of the Ideavirus at YouTube.com and set it up on your web or blog.

2) Get the free ebook “Unleashing the Ideavirus” from Seth, read it and share it.

3) Digg this video jam, click here

4) Click on the link below and share this video jam to a friend.

Wishing you an amplified and smooth day......if it hails get me outside.
